Anna Winger was raised by anthropologists in Massachusetts and in Mexico. She was educated at Columbia University. Her first novel,
This Must Be the Place, is published by Riverhead Books (Penguin). Her essays have been published in
The New York Times Magazine, among other publications. She is also a photographer and the creator of
The Berlin Stories, a radio series for NPR Worldwide. She lives in Berlin with her family.
